Yuba City, CA – Sutter Surgical Hospital-North Valley (SSH-NV) today announced it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Joint Replacement for Hip and for Knee. Certification is for Joint Commission-accredited hospitals, critical access hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers seeking to elevate the quality, consistency and safety of their services and patient care.

SSH-NV underwent a rigorous onsite review. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with disease-specific care standards and hip and knee replacement requirements, including orthopedic consultation, and pre-operative, intraoperative and post-surgical orthopedic surgeon follow-up care.

Sutter Surgical Hospital-North Valley Ranks 2nd in State for Patient Recommendations

YUBA CITY, Calif. – Sutter Surgical Hospital-North Valley was rated as the second-highest in patient satisfaction in California when discharged patients were asked if they would recommend the hospital to family and friends.

Ninety-four percent of Sutter Surgical Hospital patients responded “definitely yes” when asked, “Would you recommend this hospital to your friends and family?” in the national Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS, pronounced H-caps) survey. The latest figures are reported on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Hospital Compare website and were collected between July 2014 and June 2015.

The 94 percent rating is much higher than the California average of 69 percent and the national average of 71 percent. In California, only Patients’ Hospital of Redding received a higher score, 97 percent. Another Sutter Health hospital, Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz, ranked third with 92 percent.

YUBA CITY – Sutter Surgical Hospital – North Valley garnered a five-star rating for patient satisfaction in the recent Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) measures that are included in Hospital Compare (medicare.gov), the agency’s public website.

Sutter Surgical Hospital – North Valley is the only hospital in the Yuba-Sutter area to receive five stars, the highest possible ranking. Star rankings are based on survey feedback from hospital patients.
