Service Changes Will Lead to More Affordable, Accessible Care

SACRAMENTO – Sutter Health’s top priority is to deliver high quality, accessible and affordable care to patients, providing the right care, at the right time and in the right place. The Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region Board of Directors has announced its decision to collaborate with community providers who will provide sub acute and skilled nursing services for Sutter patients.

In Placer County, Sutter Roseville Medical Center is seeing an increased need for more acute care beds. The medical center will convert its 30-bed subacute unit to acute care medical/surgical services, and is working now with several area providers of subacute services to take over the care of this specialized group of patients. In Sacramento County, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento has signed an agreement with Plum Healthcare Group, through its affiliate, to purchase the 100-bed Sutter Oaks Nursing Center Midtown at 2600 L Street. It’s Time to Have Important Conversations

Catherine McGregor, RN, MSN, Palliative Care Coordinator

Do you know your parents’ wishes if they become seriously ill? Have you talked with your adult children about your wishes in the event of you becoming gravely ill?  End-of life conversations are among the most difficult yet important conversations you can have with your loved ones.

Catherine McGregor, RN, MSN, Palliative Care Coordinator at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, assists many families in having challenging conversations about how they want to be able to live their life consistent with their goals and values. “Each of us has the ability to guide our healthcare providers and our loved ones about what we want,” said McGregor. “Our Palliative Care team in concert with your physician is dedicated to assisting patients and their families in exploring options for care when faced with difficult decisions about end-of-life care.”

Completing an Advance Directive gives you the ability to document the types of healthcare you do and do not want, and to name an “agent” to speak for you if you cannot speak for yourself.
