Sutter Coast Hospital sponsors Halloween Blood Drive

Posted by on Oct 19, 2017 | 0 comments

Crescent City – Sutter Coast Hospital is excited to sponsor an annual Halloween Blood Drive in partnership with the Northern California Community Blood Bank and local radio station, KCRE.

During October, thoughts drift to candy, costumes and carving pumpkins. But for many patients at area hospitals, the only treat that’s sure to please is a blood donation.

“Our Halloween blood drive last year was one of the largest donation events in the county,” said Rose Corcoran, chief nurse executive at Sutter Coast Hospital. “We hope we can surpass the donations at this event to give life-saving blood to those in need, and we encourage the community to join us in supporting this fun Halloween event that gives back to others.”

According to the blood bank, the entire blood donation process (screening, healthiness test and the donation) takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour and is relatively pain free.

Give a real treat to others this Halloween by donating blood.

Event Details:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 31
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Del Norte Fairgrounds, Arts and Crafts Building, Crescent City
  • Healthy individuals who feel well and have not donated in the past eight weeks days are encouraged to attend.
  • Please remember to bring a photo ID to donate.

Catherine Nishikawa, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital

“The donations from Sutter Health employees aim to help provide local food banks with enough food to meet increased holiday demand and make sure that no table is empty on Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Angelika Corchado, community benefit associate with Sutter Health. “This is our fifth year supporting food banks in Northern California through our food drive, and each pound of food donated means a holiday meal for those in need.”
