Sutter Medical Foundation Auburn Urgent Care is “Movin’ on up” to increase exam room capacity

Auburn, CA – Beginning October 25, patients seeking care from Sutter Medical Foundation’s (SMF) Urgent Care Center in Auburn will need to travel a little farther to receive services from its caregivers…..about 10 feet up.

The Urgent Care Center —chosen as the ‘Best of the Best’ in the Auburn Journal’s 2017 reader poll as Best Urgent Care— is making the short move upstairs to a larger, more accommodating space, Suite 201 at SMF’s Medical Office Building at 11795 Education Street.

“We are excited to increase our ability to care for patients in our urgent care setting, going from five exam rooms to eight exam rooms for patient visits,” said Robert Bixler, M.D., Urgent Care Department Chief and Sutter Medical Group (SMG) physician. “Any time we find an opportunity to improve our popular urgent care services, we are going to find a way to make it happen. And in Auburn, that means a move up.”

All of the services urgent care patients have come to expect are included in the move to Suite 201, including Imaging (x-ray, ultrasound and CT scanning). A phlebotomist is on site for blood draws, with full labs available.

“We see all types of cases in our urgent care,” continued Bixler. “We perform laceration repair with sutures, and many other minor procedures, often treating those with sports injuries and on-the-job injuries. From poison oak to food poisoning, the same friendly, efficient staff will be here ready to help our patients.”

The relocation continues a string of enhancements for SMF’s entire urgent care service line. Other recent changes include the December 2016 opening of

a new urgent care in Folsom, and a relocation of the Roseville Urgent Care to a much larger, 20 exam room facility in February.

Urgent care centers offer a faster, convenient and economical alternative to going to the emergency room for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The Auburn Urgent Care hours of operation will remain the same – weekdays 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Patients can check approximate wait times at all of the SMF urgent care centers by visiting their web site at www.suttermedicalfoundation.org/urgentcare. Additional Sutter Medical Foundation Urgent Care Centers are located in Sacramento, Davis, Elk Grove, Fairfield, Folsom, Roseville and Yuba City.
