Sutter Coast Hospital will soon be home to an infusion center. Construction on the new facility began this month.

“The new addition to our campus will allow our patients to receive care close to home instead of driving two hours or more for treatment,” said Sutter Coast CEO Mitch Hanna. “We are happy to provide this much needed service to our cancer patients in Del Norte County. ”

The new 6,000 square-foot infusion center will be a part of a comprehensive facility on the Sutter Coast campus that allows infusion patients to receive their care in one location. The new  center will feature nine large infusion bays and an oncology clinic with two exam rooms. In addition to administering traditional chemotherapy drugs, the center will also feature newer targeted drugs, blood transfusions, iron infusions, gammaglobulin infusions and immune-therapy infusions.

SCH hired a new oncologist, Richard Adrouney, M.D., in the fall of 2016 and he is currently seeing patients and providing cancer treatments at the hospital’s surgery center until the construction on the new facility is complete. The infusion center is slated to open in late spring of 2017.
