SACRAMENTO – Sacramento radiologist David J. Seidenwurm, M.D., Sutter Medical Foundation’s medical director for radiology quality and safety, has been selected to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Technical Expert Panel for the Quality Measure Development Plan. He was selected for the panel because of his diverse quality management expertise and for his extensive patient care and healthcare background.

SeidenwurmAs a technical expert panelist, Dr. Seidenwurm will work with stakeholders and experts to provide methodical input on the development, selection and maintenance of the Quality Measure Development Plan. The plan’s intent is to support the transition from fee-for-service to Medicare. “It is an honor to be chosen as part of the Medicare rule-making process which represents one of the largest restructuring of the medical payment systems in my career,” said Dr. Seidenwurm, who has worked as a radiologist for 30 years. “The goal of this panel is to optimize care and give patients the best quality care possible and that is something that we continuously practice at Sutter Health.”

Dr. Seidenwurm and 21 other members of the panel will convene on Nov. 17 in Tampa, Fla to review and discuss the Quality Measure Development Plan that was released by CMS in May 2016.

“Dr. Seidenwurm is an ideal representation of Sutter Health and we are excited that he has been selected as part of the panel,” said Christine Griger, M.D., President/CEO of Sutter Medical Group. “He is a collaborative thinker willing to search for solutions to answer the toughest questions on providing patients with the best care, and tax payers and patients the best value for their resources.”

Dr. Seidenwurm chairs the Sutter Medical Group Quality Committee. In addition, he is co-chair of the American Medical Association’s Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement performance measure workgroups on stroke/stroke rehabilitation, radiology and optimizing radiation dose.
