Sutter Health Looking for Advisors for Patient Family Advisory Councils

SACRAMENTO – Several Sutter Health affiliates are forming councils to involve the community and get insight and feedback about their experiences at the hospital.

Advisors with the Patient Family Advisory Councils will collaborate with leadership, care teams, and clinical initiative teams at Sutter affiliates to help in the planning and decision-making process for future patients. Through this partnership, advisors will share their experiences, and perspectives, providing the hospital’s care teams with an insider’s view about the patient and family experience and helping identify opportunities to improve care for all patients and families.

Ideal candidates have received care at one of our Sutter hospitals or care centers within the last five years and are looking for an opportunity to give back to the community in a unique way. Advisors are asked to give 4-6 hours per month to various projects related to being a member of the Patient Family Advisory Council. This includes participating in meetings and process improvement activities throughout the hospital and advising on patient communication materials.

“The feedback a patient can provide us about their experience, or a loved one’s experience, in the hospital is invaluable and a key factor in how we will improve as an overall healthcare system,” said Roberta Mori, director, Patient and Family Engagement, Office of the Patient Experience, Sutter Health. “The Patient Advisory Councils are a great way to incorporate the patient in the culture of our hospitals and care centers and help us continue to improve.”

Those interested in learning more about the Patient Family Advisory Council or signing up to be a volunteer can contact Roberta Mori at or call (916) 949-4656.
