More than $300,000 raised to enhance local surgery services

American Legion donates $10,000 to Sutter AmadorJACKSON, Calif.  – Thanks to generous community support, the Sutter Amador Hospital Foundation raised more than $168,000 toward the 2013 Matching Grant exceeding their goal of $150,000. Community members’ investments were doubled thanks to Sutter Health’s matching grant program – bringing the grand total to $318,000. This valuable funding will improve access and strengthen surgical care in Amador County with proceeds designated for orthopedic and general surgical equipment.

“Not everyone has the opportunity to give direct patient care, but anyone who supports Sutter Amador Hospital has a hand in shaping the quality care experience for our patients and families,” said Melody Montgomery, MBA, R.N., director of surgery at Sutter Amador Hospital. “We are forever grateful to all those who partner with us on behalf of patients.”

All gifts made to Sutter Amador Hospital, regardless of their size, have a significant impact. Community members requiring orthopedic or general surgical care can expect the latest innovations in care, including less invasive treatments, thanks to these gifts.

Many donors gave gifts in excess of $5,000, including Bill and Nikki Allen, Amador Community Foundation, American Legion Ambulance, David and Gretchen Carlson, Richard and Laurie Forster, Jackson Lions Club, Anne and Bruce Platt, Rotary Club of Jackson, Pat and Carl Simonsen and the Spinty Foundation. These contributions were essential to meet the foundation’s fundraising goal

“Our tight-knit community is so supportive and giving in nature. It is in our roots,” said David Carlson, board chair. “By partnering together, we know that we can accomplish great things. We rallied together for this cause because we understand how valuable it can be toward enhancing the quality of care for us locally.”

The Sutter Amador Hospital Foundation is now focusing on its 2014 Matching Grant Program, which is dedicated to raising funds for enhancing the early detection of breast cancer through the addition of leading edge mammography equipment.
