Susan and Terry Torr relocated from the bay area to Auburn in 1998. At the time Susan retired while Terry continued his work as a software engineer until 2007. The couple found a simpler and kinder lifestyle in the Sierra Foothills. They enjoyed their time together and they made many friends.

When Susan passed away in 2009, Terry lost his soul mate. Family and friends gathered to his side and supported him through that heartbreaking time. During his grieving process Terry learned that channeling his grief into helping others actually eased his some of his sorrow. He took the time to donate to various charities to honor Susan and to help others.

Terry’s most recent donation in honor of Susan is a $25,000 gift to the Sutter Auburn Faith Foundation with funds going to both the Children’s Bereavement Art Group and the Art Can Heal (the Children’s Art Gallery in the hospital). “Doing something nice for others creates a ripple effect,” said Torr. “I hope my gift to the Foundation in Susan’s honor will in turn make a healing difference in many of our local children’s lives.”
